Bengaluru: State government is serious about maintaining law and order situation, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday.

Bommai assured that strict measures are being taken against the culprits behind the killings witnessed in the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada.

“I will hold a meeting with the DG, IGP, and other senior officials to review the situation. The issue of tightening security along the 58 border routes connecting to Kerala will be discussed… ADGP has already been ordered to ensure law and order is maintained,” he said.

Bommai also hit back at Congress leader Siddaramiah’s accusation of “Law and order collapse in the state.” There had been serial murders when Siddaramaiah was chief minister too. “What did he do then?” he asked.

The situation has been handled promptly. It is not prudent to view everything from the political angle, Bommai said.

Further, Bommai sought to know why the Siddaramaiah-led government in the past withdrew the cases against SDPI and PFI activists. Today’s problems are an offshoot of the past mistake of the Congress government, he added.
