Mangaluru: The city police has formed three special teams to identify and nab the miscreants involved in the murderous assault on Bajrang Dal Leader Harish Shetty at Ganjimutt.
The unidentified miscreants, four in number, had arrived on bikes and assaulted Harish with weapons at around 8 pm on Monday, September 24 before fleeing from the spot. A grievously injured harish was rushed to a private hospital with the help of locals. Reportedly, Harish is said to be out of danger and recovering.
The police have been able to obtain the video footage of the incident from the CCTVs installed at the Ayesha Mosque and a tyre shop located nearby the spot where the assault took place. However owing to the low quality of the recording the police have not been able to establish the identity of the persons so far, it is learnt.
Though it is evident that the gang had arrived with intention of killing Harish the police are clueless about the motive behind the attack, as he had no enmity with anyone, apart from being a leader of the saffron outfit.
A case has been registered at the Bajpe police station.
