Sri Lanka: Ranil Wickremesinghe announces his resignation as Prime Minister

Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has announced his resignation amid mass protests at the country.
Earlier Ranil Wickremesinghe had said that he was willing to resign to make way for a new unity government
Taking to Twitter, he said, ” To ensure the continuation of the Government including the safety of all citizens I accept the best recommendation of the Party Leaders today, to make way for an All-Party Government. To facilitate this I will resign as Prime Minister.”
