Sri Rajarajeshwari temple Polali Brahmakalashotsava ends

Mangaluru: The Polali Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple Brahmakalashotsava ended through the Brahmakalashabhisheka (Consecrating ceremony) on Wednesday, March 13. Other religious rituals were also conducted including Mahapooja, Palla Pooja, Bramhana Suhasini Aaradhana.

Brahmakalashotsava at Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple Polali commenced on March 4 under the leadership of Polali Subramanya Tantri and the guidance of Bramashri Vedamurthi Kodimajalu Ananthapadmanabha Upadyaya. Various religious rituals were held on the occasion.

During the consecrating ceremony, as many as 501 Kalasabhisheka for Rajarajeshwari, 501 Kalasha for Durgaparameshwari and 108 Kalasabhisheka were held for other associated idols.

Almost 8-10 lakh devotees visited the temple during the 10-day celebrations. As many as 14,000 took part in the event and provided their service at various sections including parking facilities, cooking, cleanliness and many other sections. The organising committees have strived hard for the smooth functioning of the Brahmakalashotsava.

As a security measure, to avoid incidents and allow smooth flow of vehicular movement over 200 police personnel were deployed at the holy place by the district police.

Many political and religious leaders took part in the event including State BJP president Yeddyurappa, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Former minister Siddaramaiah , Sri Vidyaprasannna Theertha swamiji from Subramanya, Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swamiji from Manila, Odiyoor Gurudevananda Swamiji, Vishwesha Theertha swamiji from Pejawar and Union minister Sadananda Gowda.

In the one week of Polali Brahmakalashotsava, grand offertory processions containing loads of vegetables, vessels, rice and many more were carried out from various locations in the district.

In the festive spirit, Polali temple was attractively decorated at the entrance and also the entrance arcs located at Farangipete and Kaikamba. Sarees, pulses, vegetables, lights and other items decorated the entire stretch at Polali temple.

Normally, Brahamakalashotsava is conducted every 12 years. However, this year it was being celebrated after 15 years due to temple renovation work that took almost two years. Around Rs 18 crore were spent in the renovation and development of the temple.
