SSB seizes 52 kg ganja worth Rs 15.60 lakh; one held

Bettiah: Sashastra Seema Bal’s (SSB) personnel have seized 52 kg ganja worth Rs 15.60 lakh and arrested a Nepalese citizen from Indo-Nepal border of Bihar’s West Champaran district late last night.
SSB’s 47th battalion Deputy Commandant Amit Kumar said today that the SSB had a tip off that a person carrying contraband had entered into Indian terrotory from Nepal near pillar number 428 on the Indo-Nepal border.
The SSB personnel led by Assistant Commandant Raj Kumar Kumawat arrested the person along with ganja from Jabdi village under Bhangaha police station of the district, the Deputy Commandant said.
During the search, SSB recovered 52 kg of ganja kept in 11 packets worth Rs 15.60 lakh from one Raj Kishore Das, a resident of Mahadeo Patti village in Nepal, he said.
The SSB personnel also seized a knife, Rs 3,000 Nepalese currency and a mobile phone handset.
The SSB later handed over the seized contraband and the smuggler to the local police for further investigation and necessary action, the official added.
