Davangere/Chikmagalur: M Abhishek, a student of the MKTLK School in Davanagere district’s Harihara has scored 623 out of 625 in the SSLC examinations.
A Kannada medium student from an underprivileged family, Abhishek scored 125 in Kannada, 100 in English, Hindi, Science, Mathematics and 98 in Social Sciences.
“I am happy to score 623. I was confident I would get a good score. I did not expect to achieve full scores in four subjects. I want to choose the Science stream in my PUC and then will do engineering. I have not yet decided which branch of engineering to pursue. Want to take well care of my father and mother after becoming an engineer,” said Abhishek.
Abhishek’s father, Manjunath, ran an autorickshaw earlier and is now owns a cruiser for hire. He stated that when the results were announced he had gone to Haveri driving his cruiser on rent. Abhishek’s approach is to study daily rather than study the whole day later. He used the lockdown time for studying.
Tanmay P, the topper of the SSLC this year, is a student of Saint Joseph’s Girls High School at Chikmagalur. She has scored 625 out of 625.
Speaking to Udayavani, she said: “I am very happy that I scored full marks. I studied 2 hours every day and during examination studied longer.”
She adds that she did not attend any tuitions and watching the classes broadcast on Doordarshan helped in revising lessons that she had forgotten.
Tanmay is the daughter of Sub-Tehasildar IS Prasanna and government school teacher DL Sandhya.
