SSLC results: Udupi 5 position; DK falls to 7 position

Udupi: Udupi district which held on to the first position in SSLC results has fallen to the 5th position. Although is has fallen by 4 positions, its overall percentage has not fallen by much.

If last year it achieved the result of 88.18% , this time it has secured 88.11% Of those who have failed the exams mostly stumbled in the subjects social science and science, informs an officials from the department.

A few have failed only in Mathematics. There was a three day gap before the math exams. During the gap, teachers at a few places conducted special classes because of which some students, though weak in the subject managed to pass the exam. But on the overview, it has come to the notice that some students who did not turn for the coaching class ended up failing.

However, Udupi district’s achievement is remained the same, with no signs of much difference.  The other districts 4 positions ahead of us have reached there by passing up by, is their reaction of the district.

Of the total 6,527 male students who attempted the exams, 5,555 have passed while of the 6,476 female students who attempted the exams 5,902 have passed. The result percentage in all the subjects is 98.56% in First language, 97.06% in second language, 96.83% in third language, 91.18% in Mathematics, 94.38% in science and 94.10% in social science.

6,784 students attempted the exam in Kannada medium of whom 5,527 (81.47%) have passed while 6,219 students attempted the exams in English medium of whom 5,930 (95.35%) have passed.

Mangaluru: SSLC exam results were released on Tuesday and the district which was on the fourth position in the district ranking lists last year has this year dropped to the 7th position with a result of 86.85%. But while observing the result in percentage, it has actually increased by 1.24%.

This time the district wise results have been published in two divisions, namely the result percentage and the quality percentage. Based on the district result percentage, DK district is in the 7th position while in the quality percentage the district is in the 5th position.

The 17 government schools, 5 aided and 62 unaided schools in the district have achieved 100% result. In comparison to last year, more schools have achieved 100% results this year. Overall 84 schools have achieved 100% results in comparison to the 66 schools last year.

Sinchana Laxmi, Kripa K R, Anupama Kamath and Chinmayee of Vivekananda English Medium High School Puttur, Kumaraswamy English Medium School Subrahmanya, Sri Venkataramana Swami English High School Bantwal and Vijaya High School Vittal respectively have scored 624 marks and achieved the 2nd rank in the state.

Top ten schools

There are 12 students in the district who have scored 620 or more marks. Anagha Udupa of Vivek English Medium School Kota has scored 623 marks. Prithvi V Shetty, Dhanya S, Chandana Shenoy, Suprita Nayak and Sumanth S Karanth of Jgyanasudha English Medium High School Karkala, St Cecilius High School Udupi, St Francis English Medium High School Mudarangady and T A Pai English Medium High School Kunjibettu respectively have scored 622 marks.

B Vibha Shenoy, Ankita P Acharya and Shrata of S B High School Karkala, Shantiniketan English Medium School Alevur and Jgyanasudha English Medium High School Karkala respectively have scored 621 marks. M Manvit Prabhu, Sanjana J and Suraj N S of Jgyanasudha English Medium High School Karkala, Sri Venkataraman School Kundapur and VKR Acharya Memorial English Medium High School Kundapur respectively have scored 620 marks.
