Start Up Cell in Manipal: DC

Udupi: To assist entrepreneurs, a ‘Start Up Cell’ will be started in Manipal by the end of December, said Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.
The DC was speaking at the information programme on the loan facilities provided by the state financing institution for the development of industries and service areas, held at the district small scale industries association hall on Tuesday.
Take notice of new businesses
In the future it will be possible to create employment only if one takes notice of new profession/businesses along with jobs/business like poultry and tailoring. Aspiring entrepreneurs can also involve in waste management business in the model similar to the Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) or in tourism industry, she advised.
The general manager of KSFC B S Mohiuddin spoke at the programme and said that the institution has 23 plans. Recently a new plan has been started under which loans will be provided to the women, youth entrepreneurs and those belonging to the SC/ST groups at an interest rate of 4%.
SLRM income Rs 11 lakh
SLRM units are functioning at 45 GP’s in Udupi district and annually, they are doing a business of Rs 11 lakh by the sale of recycled products. There is a demand for recycled products. Other than the government and GP’s, such units can be started by private also. Encouragement will be provided to this, informed the deputy commissioner.
