State could extend weekend curfew, says Union Min DVS Gowda

Bengaluru: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said that the State government could extend the weekend curfew if it deems necessary.
The minister was speaking after holding meetings with State’s Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Chief Secretary Ravikumar and MLA Narayana Swamy at the Vidhana Soudha.
He said that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa after a meeting with his Cabinet will take a decision on the extension of the curfew.
“The citizens are urged to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and get vaccinated. The pandemic could intensify in the coming days,” he said.
He added that the State did face an initial shortage of Remdesivir and medical oxygen. However, the Centre will be be providing 1.22 lakh of Remdesivir vials and 800 metric tonnes of medical oxygen soon. Along with the additional vaccines required by the State.
