State government withdraws award for Kundapura College Principal amid controversy

In a last-minute decision, the Karnataka state government has revoked the selection of B.G. Ramakrishna, Principal of Kundapura Government Pre-University College, for the prestigious state-level Teachers’ Award.
Ramakrishna had gained attention during the BJP government’s tenure when he denied entry to students wearing the hijab within the college premises amid the controversial hijab row.
Under the current Congress government, Ramakrishna’s selection for the state award sparked widespread outrage from certain groups, leading to the government’s decision to block his nomination for the award.
