Bengaluru: The state government on Wednesday, May 15 issued an order to all the district administrations to install GPS for all water tankers in the state, in order to ensure that tanker mafia does not misuse the drinking water crisis across the state for money making.

The order to install GPS to all the water tankers was made compulsory following the complaints that fake bills are created without supplying water, informed sources.

In this regard, the DCs of all the districts are directed to procure the GPS using the funds available in their bank account.

Addressing presspersons on the issue, an officer explained that in over 3,000 villages, water is supplied via tankers, but still, were complaints that enough water was being not supplied.

This decision has been taken based on these complaints, he added.
