State-level awards for teachers and lecturers announced

This year’s state-level awards for best teachers and lecturers have been announced.

Among the winners are Ramakrishna B.G., the Principal of the Government Pre-University College in Kundapura; Vinayak Naik, a Social Science teacher at the Government Composite High School in Karkala; Yamuna K., the headmistress of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School in Neerkere, Moodbidri; and Vishwanath K. Vitla, an art teacher at the Government High School in Guruvayanakere.

Kundapura:  Ramakrishna B.G., the Principal of the Government Pre-University College in Kundapura, originally from Belayur in Sagara taluk, Shivamogga district. He has made significant contributions to the academic and physical development of the college. He has introduced online coaching for CET/NEET/JEE exams and established a library with over 20,000 valuable books, benefiting students from rural areas.

Karkala: Vinayak Naik, a Social Science teacher at the Government Composite High School in Karkala, has been honored with the Best Teacher Award. Naik, who hails from Tumbeelu in Honnavara taluk, Uttara Kannada district, is known for setting up the district’s first Digital Social Science Laboratory. He has also conducted motivational camps for SSLC students and contributed to the district’s education initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Belthangady: Vishwanath K. Vitla (VK Vitla), an art teacher at the Government High School in Guruvayanakere, has also received the state-level Best Teacher Award. Vishwanath, renowned for his artistic contributions to the school, has played a key role in the school receiving the District Best School Award in 2016. He previously received the District Best Teacher Award in 2017.

Moodbidri: Yamuna K., the headmistress of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School in Neerkere, has been awarded the state-level Best Teacher Award. Yamuna, originally from Byndoor, has significantly improved the school’s infrastructure with the help of donors, parents, and alumni. She has also been instrumental in promoting sports, cultural activities, and starting English medium classes at the school.
