Mangaluru: In the backdrop of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sharan Pumpwell making an open statement “justifying” the killing of Mohammed Fazil in Surathkal last year, the father of the deceased has made a request to the Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashikumar to arrest Sharan and investigate the matter.
Umar Farooq met the Police Commissioner on Monday and submitted a request.
Fazil was murdered by miscreants on July 28 last year, a case was registered at Suratkal police station and 8 people were arrested. A charge sheet has been submitted against them.
Farooq in his letter to the police said, “I have asked many times in the past to investigate the masterminds of the case. But no person has been investigated.”
Farooq further said that it has come to light that Sharan Pumpwell, in an open speech at Bajrang Dal’s Shauryatra in Tumkur on January 29, said that “Fazil was murdered in revenge for the killing of Praveen Nettaru”. “So Sharan has complete information about the crime. He should be arrested and additional investigation should be done,” Farooq wrote.
Deport those who instigate murder, demands Khader
Mangaluru: MLA U.T. Khader, at a press conference said that “traitors” who give provocative statements for political gain and inspire murders should be deported.
“In the current situation, BJP and Sangh Parivar seem to be waiting for murders. They do not understand the pain of the families of the murdered,” he said and urged the police department to take immediate action against Sharan Pumpwell who has made “statements that endanger society.”
Against the backdrop of the “corroborative” statements made Fazil murder case should be re-investigated in new light, he added.
