Stay order on Tulu movie ‘Girgit: Mangaluru Bar Association hold press meet

Mangaluru: After court sent a stay order on the exhibition of popular Tulu movie Girgit, the Mangaluru Bar Association on Thursday held a for a press conference in this regard in their office.

Speaking on the issue, General Secretary of Mangalore Bar association HV Ragavendra expressed displeasure against Girgit movie for using derogatory, defamatory statements against the advocates and for the mockery of the judicial system of the nation.

Senior lawyer M P Shenoy, Mangalore Bar association President N Narasimha Hegde, Vice-President Jithendra Kumar, Joint Secretary Sharmila were also present in the press meet.

The junior principal civil judge justice Harish, has passed an stay order on the exhibition of popular Tulu movie ‘Girgit’, following the accusation that the lawyer fraternity has been defamed in the movie.

“An injunction order has been passed against the Tulu movie Girgit for the derogatory, defamatory statements against the advocates and for the mockery of the judicial system of the nation. The injunction order has been passed by the Principal civil judge, DK Mangalore in O. S 1152/2019. The matter in support of the advocates (Mangalore Bar Association) was argued by advocate M P Shenoy,” stated a release from Mangalore Bar association.
