Belthangady: The bridge which was washed away around 53 years ago by floods and cut off connection with Banjarumale has been replaced by a steel bridge which was constructed within a week as ber the wishes of the district administration and MLA Harish Poonja.
Although there was a greater flow of water along the Aniyuru steam, the bridge was successfully constructed with the span of only three days. The bridge which is 42 feet long and 4 feet wide has been constructed at the cost of Rs 5 lakh.
In accordance to the DC Sasikanth Senthil’s directions, PWD executive engineer Yashwanth, assistant executive engineer Shivaprasad Ajila created and provided the bridge by manufacturing it at Master Plannery owned by Anand in Puttur.
Banjarumale has been reconnected through the walking steel bridge with cooperation from the district administration and the locals. A road will be constructed between Kanarpadi and Anari. The DC and local contractors have provided good response to all these works – Harish Poonja, MLA
Two-wheelers may pass on the bridge. There will be no problem with the construction of a new bigger bridge at the height of 1.5 M from the present bridge – Shivaprasad Ajila, Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD
