Mangaluru: An overwhelming stench greets travelers at Mangaluru Central Railway station due to the dysfunctional drainage work being undertaken here.

In order to start the drainage work, the department had dug the land in front of the station. Just then, heavy rains inundated the railway station consequently pushing it out of gear. Travelers arriving at the station faced much trouble due to this. The railway department woke up due to the incident and simply filled up the land they had already dug up for the drainage work. Currently, the old drainage system has incurred a problem and hence the dirty water flowing in it is now flowing in front of the railway station.

The flow of the dirty water right in front of the railway station has covered the area with a foul smell and the travelers here are compelled to cover their noses to protect themselves from inhaling the stench. Along with this, there is a fear that this may lead to the breeding of mosquito. The negligence of the officials in concern to the railway station which caters for thousands of travelers daily has attracted much displeasure.
