Stolen lorry case: Accused driver nabbed; lorry, cash seized

Mangaluru: Panambur police have arrested Mahesh K S (36), a resident of Kanakapura Kotekoppa in Ramanagara district in connection to the theft of a lorry from Bengaluru. The police have also seized the lorry worth Rs 7 lakh, Rs 9,000 in cahs and a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000 from the accused.
Case details
The accused Mahesh worked as driver for the lorry owner Henjarappa Siddappa from Bengaluru and after loading the goods had reached Mangaluru on Jan 6th. After unloading the goods, he did not proceed to get hired but instead chose to sell the lorry. Since the lorry along with its driver had gone missing for 4 days, the owner came to Mangaluru, searched for it in vain and finally submitted a complaint to Panmabur police.
After registering a case as per the complaint, Panambur police started the investigation and arrested the accused on Jan 20th after locating him at Mukka toll gate. On inspection of the lorry, it was revealed that the accused had sold off two of the rear wheels and the tarpaulin used to cover the carrier of the lorry. During interrogation it was revealed that he had spent the money which he had gained from the sale.
Panambur Inspector Rafeeq K M, SI Umesh Kumar M S, Mangaluru North Sub Division Rowdy Squad and Panambur police were part of the operation.
