Mangaluru: Tension arose at Adyar Padavu after stones were hurled at a BJP victory procession during late evening on Tuesday May 15.

BJP which won in seven out of eight assembly seats in Dakshina Kannada organised a victory procession late evening on Tuesday since strict orders from EC had instructed people not to hold such celebrations during daytime on counting day.

As the procession was passing through Adyar Padavu, unidentified people began stone pelting at BJP workers and supporters involved in the procession.

However, local witnesses alleged that people in the rally invited trouble by throwing stones at a local mosque, which resulted in the people there retaliating.

Police sources stated that both sides pelted stones at each other.

It is alleged that a man was beaten up by the same persons who pelted stones at the procession.

The man, identified as Ashok, has been admitted to a private hospital.

People also involved in throwing stones at Shree Ramanjaneya Vyayama Shale, damaging its name board and window panes. Sources revealed that a bike too, was also damaged in the incident.

Mangaluru rural police arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control.
