Stop toll collection if Kundapur flyover not completed by March 31: Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi: BJP MP Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje said that the if the Shastri circle flyover at Kundapur and Padubidri road construction work is not completed by March 31, toll collection will not be allowed on this stretch.

Shobha speaking at the District Development and Monitoring Committee meeting held at on Wednesday, January 29, said, “Navayuga Udupi Tollway Pvt. Ltd. had again extended its deadline for completing the works in Shastri circle flyover at Kundapur and Padubidri road construction, If they miss the deadline, stop the collection of toll on March 31. The toll collection should be done only after completion of the works and blacklist the companies that are found to be lagging behind in the road work execution.”

Meanwhile, an officer, from the National Highways Division of the Public Works Department officials replying to queries by Karandlaje on the status of the construction of Malpe-Tirthahalli National Highway 169A, said that land acquisition for 1km land at Parkala here was in its final stages and a gazette notification will be published soon. The work would start a month after the publication.

“The problems being faced by pregnant women and mothers of new born children in availing benefits under Matrapoorna scheme have been brought to the notice of the chief minister. We have recommended for changing the scheme itself so that cash or grains may be delivered to the residences of beneficiaries,” she said. The deputy director of the department of women and child development, R Sheshappa, reacting to it, said that the matter has been brought to the notice of the minister and a proposal has already been sent to the department.

Shobha further directed the Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha to hold a meeting with RTO officials for detailed discussions on the changed the routes and timings of KSRTC buses running in the district.

“Approval from the forest department has not been obtained for the construction of central school building at Alevoor, the school does not have its own building. Besides that, several projects sanctioned for Alevoor have been stopped and have reached the stage of getting cancelled. Therefore, hold discussions with department officials and obtain necessary approvals,” she instructed the concerned officials.

“A total of 1,40,371 farmers have registered in Prime minister’s Krishi Samman Scheme. The first instalment has been disbursed to 1,28,899 beneficiaries among them, 1,25,437 beneficiaries have got the second instalment, 72,317 beneficiaries are paid the third instalment and 3,542 beneficiaries are paid the fourth instalment. All the instalments of the state government are paid once. Rs 17,39,000 is paid to 1,192 farmers towards loss to crop due to rain-related loss,” said joint director of the department of agriculture Kempe Gowda.
