Stranded youth to return home in batches from July 13

Kuwait/Mangaluru: 23 of the 34 youngsters from Mangaluru who were victims of job fraud and stranded in Kuwait are set to fly back home on July 13. Some of them will fly on Jul 15 and 17 and thus their nightmarish existence for three months will finally come to an end.

The concerned authorities have handed over the air tickets and the General Power of Attorney to the youth on Wednesday July 3rd.

The batch travelling to India on July 13 will include a total of 44 persons of which 23 are from Mangaluru region, 15 from Andhra, 2 from Tamil Nadu and 4 from Maharashtra.

Since there is some issue with the company, the fates of remaining 11 will be decided later. Apparently, 8 of them have to pay some fines and 3 do not have civil IDs.

The stranded youth have informed that they have received the air tickets issued by Kapico Travels and Tours, operating from Kuwait City and accordingly will be travelling together on Jazeera Airways to Mumbai on July 13th. The company which cheated them has submitted a GP letter to Indian Embassy and up to departure we stay here under the patronage of the Embassy, they informed and expressed their gratitude to Indian origin businessmen and sponsors in Kuwait for their generosity towards them. The youth also thanked various associations and elected representatives for their support.

It may be noted that Mangaluru city (South) MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath had assured to provide assistance to the stranded youth by arranging for 21 air tickets and hence Chairman of Aditi International at Kuwait, Akash S Panwar, and another non-resident Indian, together promised to sponsor 15 tickets. Kuwait Bunts Sangha offered two tickets and another NRI, Mohandas Kamath, and his friend Binu Philip, sponsored a ticket each.
