Mangaluru: Strict action will be taken against anyone who takes the law into his or her own hands, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday.

Reacting to questions about the recent unsavory incidents in the state, Bommai said “There is no direct conflict between religions in the state. A few organizations are making provocative statements.  The government’s duty is to maintain law and order. So, stern action will be taken against anyone who takes laws into his own hands,” he said.

The CM further added that police have been instructed to keep a check on the organizations and individuals who were giving provocative statements. “I have asked the police officers to take suitable action against such persons,” he added.

After his tour of Udupi on Monday, the CM is in Mangaluru today to attend a series of meetings with the BJP party leaders in the district for preparing a strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
