Strict action against unauthorized sand storage

Udupi: Strict action will be taken against building constructors, contractors as well as common people found storing sand illegally, warned district in-charge committee’s senior geologist and member secretary in a press release.

Permits for sand extraction from sand blocks within coastal regulatory zone and those outside the CRZ along the river banks has been given and accordingly, sand mining is in progress.

Sand quantity as per the requirement of the approved construction work may be transported with the required transportation permit by builders and contractors. If sand is seen stored for other than this reason, then the district administration has decided to initiate strict action against this, informed the release.
