Student fined Rs 1,000 for littering!

Sullia: A student responsible for littering on the road has been fined s 1,000 by the town panchayat here.
On Friday morning, a pile of garbage was observed near the old PWD building in the city. Although there is a signboard installed here warning against littering here, it has failed to generate a positive impact and hence two CCTV cameras were installed here. On see the garbage pile the officials inspected the camera footage which depicted a youth arriving in a bike, discarding the garbage and leaving. Soon, the identity of the youth was ascertained.
It was learnt that the offender was in fact a degree student and residing in a rented room. Hence the officials visited the room, but the student was not there. Therefore the officials locked the door and asked the owner to inform the student to report to the taluk panchayat office. When the student reported at the TP office, he was fined Rs 1,000 and let go after a stern warning.
