Student who traveled from Udupi, tests COVID-19 positive in Badami

Udupi: An 18-year-old girl from Badami in Bagalkot district has tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, May 6. She had traveled from Udupi in the second week of March this year.

Reacting to this, Udupi deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha said that he has discussed the issue with Bagalkot DC Deepa Cholan and it is learned that she had traveled from Udupi in March. There were no COVID-19 cases in Udupi during March and she is not likely to have contacted COVID-19 in Udupi. There is no need for people here to worry about this.

The girl studying at Nitte Engineering College, Karkala and had gone to her native in Badami in the month of March for vacation.

She came in contact with a 23-year-old pregnant woman on May 2 who was COVID-19 positive.

Earlier, 12 out of 13 people who came in contact with the pregnant woman had tested COVID-19 positive.
