Students assault principal for objecting to ragging; four held

Mangaluru: Police arrested four students of a private college near Surathkal for allegedly assaulting their principal after he objected to them ragging junior students.

The arrested Muhammed Bazil, Sambhram Alva, KU Samil and Ashwin S Johnson are third-year engineering students.

The principal had summoned the four after junior students complained of ragging in the college. As the principal warned of debarring them from college if they did not desist from ragging juniors, the four students attacked him.

A case had been registered at Surathkal police station in this regard.

In yet another case registered at Kankanady police station, police arrested three students of a private medical college in Mangaluru for ragging junior students.

The accused identified as Mohammed Adil, R Riyaz and Mohammed Nizamuddin had entered a house at Pumpwell where nine first-year students lived and asked them to shave their moustache and head.
