Students Assn urge lawyers not to represent Bengre rape accused

Mangaluru: Condemning the incident of gang rape at Thota Bengre beach last week, Dakshina Kannada District All Colleges Students Association has urged the District Lawyers Association not to represent the rape accused.

Stating that the incident has shamed the city of Mangaluru, the association said that lawyers should help those who committed the heinous crime get punished. Further, they urged the lawyers association to direct practising lawyers not to help the rape accused. “If at all any lawyer takes up their case, a protest would be held in front of his office,” the students threatened.

The police have arrested all the seven accused, including three minors of gangraping the woman after assaulting her male friend. 

Sangh’s office bearers Gurudath Malli, Ibrahim Batish, Astal Lobo, Ashwit Adapa, Anvita Shetty, Priyanka Shetty and others were present.
