Students fall ill after school cook mistakenly mixes urea into milk

Chikkamagaluru: As many as 18 students and a teacher took ill after drinking adulterated milk served at the school on Saturday, September 15.
The incident took place at the government upper primary school at Niluvagilu under the Koppa block education department limits when the cook is said to have mistakenly mixed urea fertilizers in the milk instead of sugar.
The students who drank the milk, served to them in the morning found that it had a sour taste and brought it to the notice of their teacher, who tasted the milk to check on their complaint. Later the students and the teacher complained of stomach ache and vomiting. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital and given treatment.
A case has been registered with the Hariharpara police and investigations are ongoing to find out how and why urea was brought to school. Meanwhile, the police have detained the cooks Yashoda, Sharada and Gulabi.
MLA T.D Rajegowda, former MLA D.N Jeevaraj, ZP President Sujata, Praveen Kumar, BEO Ganapati, Tahsildar Tanuja visited the hospital and enquired the health of the students.
