Subrahmanya: A motorist had a lucky escape as a huge tree on the roadside fell onto the highway near the zonal forest office near Kumaradhara here on Sunday.

Ajith from Perlampady was on his way to Bengaluru on the highway when the tree uprooted suddenly. On noticing the falling tree, Ajith applied brakes in a hurry and came to a stop inches from the tree trunk.

As per sources, Ajith escaped unhurt but the car suffered minor damage in the incident.

The traffic on the highway came to a standstill as the tree had blocked all lanes. There was a long traffic line on both sides. Subrahmanya police, Forest officials, and locals joined hands to vacate the fallen tree to make way for traffic.
