Subrahmanya: A youth from Kallugundi has lodged a complaint with the Subramanya police that a group assaulted him for roaming with a Hindu girl.
The ‘moral policing’ incident reportedly took place on January 5 near Kumaradhara junction in Subrahmanya. On the other hand, the father of the girl has lodged a counter-complaint alleging the youth of sexually harassing his daughter and threatening her.
The youth identified as Afidh (20), son of Kallugundi Haneef of Sampaje village, in his complaint said that he had met the girl, who is a student, on Instagram. He had visited Subrahmanya a couple of times in the past. On Thursday evening, when the duo was talking at the bus stand, 2-3 men forcefully took away Afidh in a jeep and locked him in a room in an old building near Kumaradhara junction and assaulted him.
In his complaint to the Subramanya police, Afidh said that 10-12 people assaulted him, abused him, and threatened to kill him.
Girl’s father registers counter-complaint
The girl’s father has, however, filed a counter-complaint against Afidh. According to the complaint, Afidh pestered the girl to fall in love with him. He demanded her phone number but when she refused to do so he allegedly grabbed her by the hand and tried to sexually exploit her and threatened her.
A case has been registered at Subramanya police station.
