Udupi: Timely intervention of a Udupi-based social worker saved a man, going through depression, from ending his life on Thursday, December 12.
The social worker, Raghavendra Prabhu Karvalu sensed something amiss when he saw the man loitering around Kukkikatte railway bridge. He approached the man and tried to strike a conversation with him. Upon coming to know that the man was planning to commit suicide, Karvalu immediately contacted other social workers and narrated the incident to them.
Karvalu and other activists provided him food and later took him to Karunya orphanage at Katapady. An Aadhar card found in his possession identified him as Raghavendra Kamath (40), a resident of Bengaluru.
