Aranthodu: Police apprehended 2 suspects in the case of burglary at the house of Congress leader S Shamshuddin in Aramboor a few months ago.
The accused have been identified as Fayaz and Prasanna. While Fayaz was arrested from Sakaleshpur, Prasanna was apprehended in Bengaluru’s Govinda Nagar. Both the accused were brought to Sullia and produced before the court.
According to police sources, the arrested individuals have been implicated in more than 30 cases related to the robbery. However, during the investigation, an interesting twist emerged, revealing that the thieves did not initially plan to rob Shamshuddin’s house.
As per the inquiry, on the day of the incident, the accused were passing through Sullia in a car, en route to meet an associate in Kasaragod. It was during this journey that they noticed a newspaper placed at the front gate of Shamshuddin’s residence in Aramboor. They calculated that none were at home and sensed an opportunity.
Coincidentally, while conversing with their associate in Kasaragod, the accused became aware of the individual’s financial struggles, particularly regarding the payment of legal fees. Sensing an opportunity to help, Fayaz and Prasanna promised to provide the necessary funds. Subsequently, they returned to Shamshuddin’s house and committed the robbery, police sources said.
