Sullia: In a sensational case, an armed gang of robbers barged into a house and fled with the valuables in a house here in Sampaje on Sunday evening.
The incident took place at the residence of Ambarish Bhat at Chattekallu in Sampaje.
The gang gained entry into the house at 8.30 PM when Ambarish and his son Srivatsa were away. His wife, daughter-in-law, and 2 infant grandkids were at home at the time of the incident. Armed with machetes, the gang snatched the Mangalya chain of the daughter-in-law soon after entering the house. They threatened the women and got the keys to the locker.
The gang took away gold ornaments weighing around 100 grams and Rs 1.5 lakh cash from the house. The gang let off the women and children only after they pleaded for their life.
A case has been registered in this regard. A high-level team from Mangaluru has been dispatched to solve the crime.
