Sullia: Recently, a photo of two children repairing the mud-filled road went viral on social media. In the photo, Class II students, Valleesha Rama and Tanvi, children of Santosh and Keshava, were seen working on the muddy road in Mudayi thota, Bellare village in Dakshina Kannada district.
Following the incident, the judge of the senior civil court, Somashekhar visited the spot and ordered the concerned officials to take quick action.
He also questioned the parents of the children who said that the road was not repaired even after submitting a petition and that the children had joined hands with them during voluntary work. Somashekar then visited the gram panchayat office and questioned the panchayat officials.
Somashekar asked the police sub-inspector to register cases and file first information reports against the parents for making the kids work, panchayat president and PDO for not repairing the road, and also against school teachers who failed to take care of the children.
However, the sub-inspector suggested that rather than filing cases one can take action towards repairing the road. Somasheskar ordered the officials to repair the road immediately and submit a report and photo to him.
Panchayat Development officer Anusha, visited the spot and initiated steps to conduct temporary repairs for the road.
