Sullia: Newborn dies after ‘depressed’ mother throws him into well

A 10-day-old baby died of drowning after his mother allegedly threw the infant into a well on Saturday evening.
The accused, Pavithra was reportedly suffering from post-natal depression. It is said that she wished to have a baby girl and was unhappy that she gave birth to a boy.
The incident took place when Pavithra was alone at home. Locals who heard the noise pulled the baby out of the well and rushed him to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
A case has been registered at Subramanya police station.
