Sullia: In a heartwarming success, a baby elephant, separated from its herd in Mandekolu’s Kanyana, has been successfully reunited after a series of dedicated efforts.
The approximately 2 or 3-month-old elephant was part of a herd that ventured into a plantation on Thursday night. Unfortunately, it failed to return with the herd, prompting concerns. Forest department officials swiftly responded, identifying the wild herd’s location and initiating efforts to reunite the calf.
Despite continuous attempts throughout the day, the initial efforts were unsuccessful, and the baby elephant was found moving towards human habitations.
After two unsuccessful attempts, the forest department launched a third and final operation. This time, their persistence paid off as the baby elephant rejoined her mother in the Bengathmale range of Mandekolu. Forest department officials have officially confirmed the successful reunion.
The operation saw active participation from forest department officials, staff, and local residents.
