Sullia: The Salumarada Timmakka Vrukshodyanavana (Salumarada Timmakka Tree Park) was opened to the public on January 22.
The park is located on 25 acres of forest land on the banks of the Kumaradhara river near the Kukke Subramanya temple.
The park was built by contributions from the temple and the Forest Department at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
The park has 17 different types of bamboo and other rare trees and plants from the Malnad region and the Western Ghats.
The park is equipped with a play area for children, a pathway, a bird-watching lane and a star-gazing garden.
Further development of the park is underway and plans are afoot to build a trekking park inside the park.
