Sullia: A wedding function had to be called off at the last minute after the groom failed to turn up at the hall here in Sullia Town Hall on Thursday.
Reportedly, the groom hailing from Puttur happens to be married and upon coming to know about his marriage to another woman, his first wife lodged a verbal complaint at Bellare police station. The police summoned the groom and sent the couple home after warning the man.
Unaware of this, the bride’s family continued with the wedding festivities and even hosted a DJ event at their residence on Wednesday. On the day of the wedding, the bride’s party and other guests arrived at the hall but there was no sign of the groom. His mobile number too was switched off.
The bride’s family approached the Sullia police and upon investigation, it was found that the groom was already married.
The guests who arrived for the wedding returned home. Later, the bride’s family donated the food prepared for the wedding to the hostels in the vicinity.
