‘Super Dog’ Rana passes away, last rites to be performed with full state honour

Gundlupet: Sniffer dog Rana, also known as ‘Super Dog’, died on Tuesday, due to age-related ailments.
Rana, a nine-year-old German Shepherd was regarded as the best sniffer dog in detecting the crime scene in the forest area.
As per the reports, for the past one week, Rana had health complications.
On Monday, the health condition worsened, and was shifted to a veterinary hospital at Gundlapet. It had begun vomiting on Monday night, due to which it passed on Tuesday (August 2) morning.
The sources from the forest department have said that the mortal remains of Rana were kept for forest officials to pay their last respect at the Bandipur Safari Counter. Later, the last rites will be performed with full state honours.
It can be recalled that Rana received training for nine months under the 23rd Battalion at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2014, it was posted to Bandipur National Park to detect forest crime. It was involved in several successful operations of identifying tree thieves, tiger poachers, etc.
