New Delhi/Kodagu: The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Government to implement its draft Cauvery Management Scheme on Friday. The court found the draft scheme to be in conformity with the court’s February 16 judgement and with Section 6A of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act. The verdict was given by A.M. Khanwilkar.
The judgement also said that there was no point in pursuing a contempt action against the Centre for not framing the draft scheme within the deadline given in the February 16 judgement. It said that the lapse in drafting the scheme was due to unavoidable circumstamces, beyond the Centre’s grasp.
