Surathkal: 3 arrested for assault on locals at Chitrapura beach

Surathkal: Three persons, who were allegedly Chitrapura locals using swords, were arrested by Surathkal police.
It may be recalled that a group of miscreants attacked and threatened villagers with deadly weapons on the beach near Chitrapura in Surathkal on Sunday evening. The miscreants were allegedly high on ganja and attacked the locals with swords. They also damaged an autorickshaw and injured the autorickshaw driver Sunil.
Police arrested Prateek on Sunday. Two others Amal Ajayan and Nishant were arrested on Monday. The search is on for the other three accused involved, police said.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said that the police have registered a case against the arrested under Section 307 of the IPC and the Arms Act.
Meanwhile, MLA Dr. Bharat Shetty Y said that he has instructed the police officers to root out the drug network. The future of youth is being ruined by the drug menace, he opined.
