Surathkal: There was outrage after a batch of eggs supplied to Anganwadis here were again found to be spoiled.
A similar incident occurred a few months ago, when rotten eggs were found in the food meant for young children had led to a huge controversy. Thereafter, the Department of Women and Child Welfare had warned of blacklisting the contractor supplying eggs to Anganwadis.
However, there seems to be no effect of the earlier assurances. Rotten eggs were found in the batch supplied to Anganwadis around Katipalla on Thursday too.
Responding to the incident, MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty Y. said that such cases have been found across the state. Instead of spoiled eggs, let the government give cash to beneficiaries so that they can buy bring quality eggs and eat them at home, he opined.
