Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, a group of miscreants, allegedly high on drugs, attacked and threatened villagers with deadly weapons on the beach near Chitrapura in Surathkal on Sunday evening.

The miscreants were allegedly high on ganja and attacked the locals with swords. Sunil, an autorickshaw driver, was injured in the incident and has been admitted to a hospital.

Police with help from locals managed to nab one of the accused, identified as Aman. The search is on for the others involved.

It is learnt that, for the past several months, the vagabonds used to consume drugs using the cover of the stone boulders erected for preventing sea erosion. The locals had warned them against it. The attack on Sunday is said to be a retaliation for the local’s warning.

Surathkal police rushed to the spot and registered a case.
