Mangaluru: The number of people traveling between Udupi and Mnagaluru has been increasing in the past few weeks and there is a demand for more buses.

KSRTC and private bus operators are running multiple buses between the two cities. The private bus operators are running 5 express buses in 4 trips in which the number of passengers will be high in 2 trips.

Prior to Lockdown in the country, private buses ply between Udupi and Mangalore every 2 minutes. Due to the shortage of passengers at present, only 60 buses are operational.

There will be a high number of people commuting in the morning and evening time and accordingly the buses are scheduled to cater to more passengers. Bus owners have opinioned that it is necessary to reduce the buses at other times to avoid loss.

Meanwhile. KSRTC has abandoned Volvo buses that used to operate between Manipal and State Bank before lockdown due to less number of passengers. KSRTC is now operating express buses between the two cities. If there is an increase in the number of passengers, the board will increase the number of buses in the future.
