Surinje: Residents of Surinje Gram Panchayat have complained that their plantations have been inundated with wastewater mixed with oil discharged by MRPL plant.
Locals alleged that untreated water discharge has affected around 100-acre of agricultural land and wells around the Surinje Ponnagiri Temple. Oil content has been found in well water, they further stated.
Expressing outrage against the same, locals lodged a complaint with MLA Umanath Kotian.
Following this, the lawmaker has instructed the company officials to take appropriate action.
