Suspected thief nabbed; valuables recovered

Udupi: A man accused of stealing cash and valuables from a rented house of Nataraj, Myrekome, Heggunje village, Brahmavar between August 3 and August 6 has been arrested by a team of police personnel from Brahmavar police station, under the leadership of police circle inspector, Srikanth K.
The accused is identified as Mohammed Ali alias Suresh (45), son of Ahmed Bawa, resident of Kalavaru near Pejawar, Bala village, Dakshina Kannada district. The accused was arrested from near Jail road, Mangaluru.
The police have recovered 38.75 grams of gold jewelry worth about Rs 1,20,000, Rs 3,00,550 in cash, an auto rickshaw worth about Rs 25,000 used for the theft and an Omni car worth about Rs 1 lakh bought by the accused out of stolen cash. The estimated total worth of the stolen gols ornaments and cash is pegged at Rs 5,45,550.
DSP Nisha James guided the operation which was conducted under the under the leadership of police circle inspector Srikanth and other senior police officials. Brahmavar police station PSI Raghavendra C, ASI Narayana, staff Venkatramana Devadiga, Pravin Shettigar, Raghavendra Karkada, Ganesh Devadiga, Dileep Kumar, Harish Prasad and others carried out the operation.
