Padubidri: Suzlon Energy at Padubidri closed doors to its employees effective Monday midnight. The company said that it decided to declare lockout under sub-section 2 section, 22 of Industrial Disputes Act.
Suzlon has its blade manufacturing unit at Padubidri, Udupi District.
The company apparently did not provide any advance intimation on their intention to declare suspension of employees.
The company has pointed the reasons being misconduct and acts of sabotaging by the employees which led considerable loss to the company.
The workers in night shift were suddenly sent out of the premises. As a result, over 600 workers including 326 employees of the company have lost their jobs. Since Tuesday morning, a large number of labourers gathered in front of the main gate of the company.
Two weeks ago the contract workers staged a dharna at the premises here when they were suddenly removed from their jobs without any notice.
