Swachh Bharath Abhiyan: Students create awareness against use of plastic

Kalaburagi: Endeavoring to bring issues to light against the utilization of plastic, more than 32 students from Karnataka’s Kalaburagi spent three to four hours consistently to clean the city.
This adds to the number of cleanliness drives started by the country over since the declaration of the Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014.
The students coordinate on a WhatsApp group titled ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, on which they choose the time and the location for cleaning.
Among the most remarkable ones is by a lawyer and activist Afroz Shah-started tidy up drive in Mumbai’s Versova shoreline, which began in October 2015 and has supposedly evacuated more than five million kilograms of waste from the shoreline.
Likewise, in May, more than 8000 toilets were developed in the Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua region in consistence with the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, propelled in 2014 on Gandhi Jayanti, aims to tidy up the roads, streets and infrastructure of smaller towns, urban areas and rural areas.
Further, the targets of the mission include development of household claimed and community owned toilets, to make India open-defecation free.
