Mangaluru: South Western Railway has decided to run a special train between Bengaluru and Mangaluru to accommodate the extra rush of passenger traffic during the Diwali festival. The special trains will run between Yeshwantpur and Mangaluru Junction on October 30 and 31.

Train No. 06565 Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction special will depart from Yeshwantpur at 11:50 PM on October 30 and reach Mangaluru Junction at 11:45 AM on October 31. The return train, No. 06566 Mangaluru Junction-Yeshwantpur special, will depart from Mangaluru Junction at 1:00 PM on October 31 and reach Bengaluru at 9:45 PM the same day.

This special train will stop at Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, Kabaka Puttur, and Bantwal stations. It will consist of 21 coaches in total.

Demand for Special Train by Railway Activists

Last year, during Dasara and Diwali, special trains were operated between Mangaluru, Bengaluru, and Mysuru. This year, during Dasara, Train No. 06569 Yeshwantpur-Karwar Special Express and Train No. 06570 Karwar-Mysuru Special Express were routed via Padil. However, this did not benefit passengers traveling to Mangaluru. Therefore, railway activists had requested additional trains between Mangaluru and Bengaluru during Deepavali.

Letter from MP

Considering the high demand for special trains, MP Brijesh Chowta wrote to the General Manager of South Western Railway, requesting special trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru for Deepavali. He emphasized that the trains would benefit thousands of passengers traveling to their hometowns from Bengaluru. The MP stated in his letter that the operation of these special trains would not only ease passenger travel but also bring additional revenue to the railway department.

In response to the demands from passengers, activists, and public representatives, South Western Railway has decided to operate these special trains for Deepavali.
