T.R.A. Pai’s daughter Parimala Kamath passes away

Mnaipal: Parimala Kamath, the daughter of late T.R.A. Pai and wife of late Dr. Gopalakrishna Kamath, passed away on April 1 in America. She was 87 years old and is survived by two sons.

Parimala was known for her talents since childhood. She had a keen interest in reading, philosophy, linguistics, history, and politics. A skilled singer, composer, and writer, she used to sing her original compositions and also taught Indian music to children. In 1987, she brought out an album of bhajans, which showcased her exceptional musical abilities. Parimala was a devotee of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, just like her father.

T.R.A. Pai, Parimala’s father, had served as an officer in Canara Mutual Insurance Company established in Udupi by his elder brother Dr. T.M.A. Pai. After the company was nationalized and became the Life Insurance Corporation of India, he retired after serving as Zonal Manager in Madras and Bangalore. Pai then settled in Manipal in the 1970s.
