Mangaluru: Tourism Minister CT Ravi on Thursday, December 26 said that he will urge chief minister BS Yediyurappa to take a cue from Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UttarPradesh and penalise rioters for damaging public property.

Speaking to media persons here Ravi blamed Congress MLA UT Khader for inciting the violence in Mangaluru, and said that the government should also attach Khader’s property to recover losses to the public property.

Further, he that the Congress had joined hands with PFI and SDPI to destabilise the government. Ravi opined that Congress had expected communal unrest after the passage of Triple Talaq Bill, Article 370 and verdict into Ayodhya dispute. However since the same did not happen, it is now misleading people about the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Slamming Congress leaders, including Siddaramaiah for terming stone-pelters as innocent people he questioned what message the party was giving to the public. On state government decision to withdraw ex-gratia to families of Jaleel and Nausheen until their roles are investigated in December 19 violence, Ravi sought a clarification from Congress if those involved in criminal activities should be provided compensation

Taking a jibe at Congress, Ravi said that when the party loses in elections it expresses doubt on EVMs, in case of December 19 police they are doubting the police. “Congress has no job besides raising doubts,” he added.

On charges of communal approach levelled against BJP, Ravi said that BJP has introduced schemes – Ayushman Bharath, Kissan Samman, etc. which does not differentiate the benefitor on the basis of their religion while highlighting few schemes – Shadi Bhagya and Pravasa Bhagya introduced by opposition that was chalked out on basis religion.
